PESACH CLEANING: The Shul has been cleaned for Pesach. Please be reminded not to bring any chometz into the Shul.

HASHKAMA MINYAN KIDDUSH: There will be a Hashkama Minyan Kiddush this week sponsored by the Blumstein Family in honor of their parents and grandparents, Chaya & Alter Rosenberg, who have come from Israel to celebrate the holidays with us.

FINAL MECHIRAT CHOMETZ TIMES: Rabbi Greer will be available to "sell chometz" in the Beit Medrash of ECDP on Motzai Shabbat from 8:45 pm until 10:00 pm. For those who need to "sell" at the last minute I will be at the Shul after davening on Sunday morning from 8:30 AM until 9:00 AM. If none of these times are convenient or you are simply "running late", please call me at 203 848 8706 and you can make an appointment to come to my home throughout the day on Sunday. On Sunday, please do not come without calling first as I may be out running pre-pesach errands.

BEDIKAT CHOMETZ: We are looking for a "few good teens" to volunteer to check the Shul for chometz on Sunday evening at 9:00 PM. Please RSVP to webmaster@ecdp.info or rabbigreer@ecdp.info. We will try to have some refreshments available to sustain those who are members of the search party for chometz.

MAOT CHITIM: Charity for those in need for Pesach is being collected. Checks should be given to Rabbi Schwalb or Rabbi Greer and can be made out to the ECDP Rabbi’s Fund or may be paid on line by filling out this formhttp://bit.ly/ECDPMC

Taanit Bechorim, Monday, April 10 following shacharit: Rabbi Greer will be making a Siyum on Masechet Moed Katan and Moshe Chaim Greer will be making a Siyum on Mishnayot Seder Nezikin. The Greer family will sponsor light refreshments in honor of the Siyumim. Everyone (especially the bechorim!) is invited.

WOMEN’S PESACH SHIUR: Rebbetzin Greer will be giving a Pesach Shiur on Shabbat Chol Hamoed, April 15th at 5:00 pm at Shul. “Finding Pesach Inspiration Through the message of Shir Hashirim” Come gain an understanding of Shlomo Hamelech’s timeless love song and the beauty of reading it on Pesach each year.

WOMAN’S LEARNING GROUP: The Women's Learning group will be starting up again on April 22 at 6:30 pm at 734 Berry Court. Topic: Wives in Tanach. All women are invited to attend.

COMMUNITY YOM HASHOAH PROGRAM: The WH Community Yom Ha Shoah Committee presents “The Voyage of the St. Louis-and its implications for today” by Dr. Rafael Medoff on April 23 at 8:00 pm at the YIWH.

WEEKLY WEDNESDAY LEARNING PROGRAM: Our weekly Wednesday night learning will resume after Pesach.

BEATY MENCHEL’S WEEKLY SHIUR FOR WOMEN: Beaty Menchel's weekly Chumash Shiur will resume after Pesach.

NORPAC: This year's NORPAC Mission to Washington is scheduled for Wednesday, May 17, 2017. Each year, shul members join hundreds from the New York metropolitan area to meet with Congressman, Senators, and their aides to lobby on behalf of Israel. You can register online atnorpac.net; the registration fee will increase after March 13. Busing between West Hempstead and Washington is provided at no additional cost. YOUTH DEPARTMENT NOTICES

SHABBAT MORNING YOUTH GROUPS: Groups will start a 10am and will run until Shul is over. As usual, all kids who show up will receive tickets towards the prize redemption raffle at the end of the year! We got some new games and activities for older boys and girls groups to play with! More games will follow in the weeks to come! Come by to check them out!

WANTED: LEGO, K'NEX, ETC: The Youth Department is looking for LEGO, K'nex, and any other similar non-muktzah building toys that can help our kids with their building and creativity skills. If you have any gently used LEGO, K'nex, etc, that your children no longer use (or that you've stepped on, barefoot, too many times) please email our Youth Director, Rafi, and he will be happy to come pick it up and give it a great "Forever Home" at the Shul.

EREV PESACH EVENT DETAILS: SOLD OUT! 2-4 year olds: JUMPBUNCH! will take place from 9:45 am - 11:00 am! Supervision by Morah Faigy! Snacks and drinks included! $10 members/$15 non-members.
5-12 year olds: Trip to Active Kidz Long Island! Drop-off at ECDP starts at 9:45 am. Buses depart promptly at 9:50 am. We will arrive back at ECDP at roughly 12:30pm. Supervision by Rafi & youth leaders! Transportation, snacks, and drinks included! $35 members/$40 non-members. Can't wait to see you there!

TEEN MINYAN: Our next monthly teen minyan takes place Shabbat Parshat Achrei Mot Kidoshim, May 6, 2017, 9:30 am at the Wachtell Room of Congregation Shaaray Shalom followed by a Hot Kiddush. We look forward to seeing you there!

ECDP WOMEN'S BOOK CLUB: The book club featuring “The Law of Similars” by Chris Bohajalian will be meeting Monday, April 24, 2017 at 8:30 pm at the home of Leah Fish, 632 Jefferson Street. The books are available at the West Hempstead library under Nancy’s book club.

SHUL NOTICES

Combination for Sprague Entrance: The combination for the Sprague entrance is efes, vav, aleph, gimmel. Please note that the combination will be changed on a periodic basis. Please email house@ecdp.info if you have any questions or comments.

TZEDAKA FUND: A Charity Account has been created to provide for those who come to collect and other tzedakah needs. This fund will be overseen by Rabbi Greer and checks should be made out to Eitz Chayim Charity Account and can be given to Rabbi Greer or Josh Kupchik.

Kelim mikvah hours: The hours for the Kelim Mikvah have been extended through the September Yomim Tovim: Sunday thru Thursday: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Friday: closed one hour before Shabbat.

SHUL REMINDERS: Please do not bring any Strollers into the Shul. Strollers must remain outside all buildings. Please do not bring food into the new sanctuary. Please remember to make sure the doors are locked when you are the last or next to last person to leave the Shul. Thank you for your cooperation.

MEMO FROM THE WELCOMING COMMITTEE The Welcoming Committee welcomes new families to West Hempstead. Additionally, they arrange a Friday night dinner to be delivered to new families for their first Shabbat. We are looking for more volunteers that would be interested in offering to bring Shabbat food for a new family when they move in. If you would be interested in being asked to cook one or two dishes every 3-6 months (depending on how frequently people move in) please email Jessica Leifer (Jleifer1@gmail.com) or Leah Fish (lshanfel@yahoo.com) and we would be happy to add you to our pool of volunteers. The West Hempstead Food Bank is now making available cards which can be given to your Shabbat hosts and/or used for any other occasion. All proceeds from the sales of the cards, which indicate that a donation has been made to the Food Bank, will be used to purchase food. Shiur in Memory of Leeor Devora Bat Shlomo A"H: Aliza and Shlomo Perl are hosting Rabbi Mordechai Becher at Anshei Shalom, Sunday evening, May 21, 2017, where he will be speaking about "Pleasure, Unity & the NY Jets" in memory and in merit of their daughter, Leeor Devora bat Shlomo A"H, in honor of her third yahrtzeit. The entire community is invited to attend. Rabbi Mordechai Becher, originally from Australia, teaches Jewish history and thought at the James Striar School of Yeshiva University and is Senior Lecturer for the Gateways Organization. He is a dynamic speaker who shouldn't be missed and the community's participation is an aliya for Leeor and comforting as well as invigorating to Aliza, Shlomo and Leeor's brothers".
